David Sinden, Organist and Director of Music, will serve on the faculty of the 42nd annual Mississippi Conference on Church Music and Liturgy.
The conference, which runs July 25-30, is held at the Duncan M. Gray Center in Canton, Mississippi. It is a time of spiritual renewal and learning for church musicians and others who attend. There are daily services, and the week ends with Evensong at St. Philip’s, Jackson and the Sunday Eucharist at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Jackson.
Each year, the Mississippi Conference is led by three members who are among the most respected musicians and clergy working in the Episcopal Church. The other two faculty members are Brad Hughley, the Organist and Director of Music at St. Paul’s, Indianapolis; and the Rev. Charles Dupree, the Rector of Trinity, Bloomington, Indiana.
“It is an honor to be asked to serve on the faculty for this year’s Mississippi Conference,” David said. “This annual gathering of church musicians and clergy is one of the great gatherings of its kind in the Episcopal Church.”
David met with the other two faculty members and the Mississippi Conference leadership in Jackson this past January to plan this year’s conference. The theme of this conference is “Moments and Days: Awake to God’s Call.”
