6:00 p.m. Women's Spirituality Group

Calling all women who are eager to deepen their relationship with God in a whole new way. Mark your fall calendar for a 4-week series when we will explore ways to incorporate Twelve Step spirituality into our life even if we do not struggle with addiction. Parishioner Sabine McDowell will lead a discussion of the book Breathing Under Water by Richard Rohr over supper on four Wednesday evenings, 6-8 p.m. on October 16th, 23rd,  and 30th, and November 6th.  In this book study we find that only people who have suffered in some way can save one another. Deep communion and deep compassion are formed much more by shared pain than by shared pleasure. If we are honest we are all addicted to something or at least, afflicted by it. This, says Richard Rohr, is one of the great discoveries of the Twelve Step Program. To survive the tidal wave of compulsive behavior and addiction, Christians must learn "to breathe underwater" and discover God's love and compassion. In this prophetic exploration of Twelve Step spirituality, Rohr identifies the core Christian principles in the Twelve Steps, connecting them to the gospels.

This will be a good opportunity to spend time with sisters enriching our sense of dependency on God alone.  To register, contact Fr. Joseph.
