This Sunday we are delighted to have in our pulpit as a guest preacher the Rev. Loren Lasch, Youth Missioner for the Diocese of Missouri. Loren began serving as Diocesan Youth Missioner in the summer of 2016. In her role she supports ministry with teenagers and the adults who work with them by working with the Diocesan Youth Advisory Council to plan Diocesan youth programs and by serving as a resource to youth leaders and congregations.
In addition to her role as Youth Missioner, you may also recognize Loren as a frequent worshiper at St. Peter’s and as the wife of our Associate Rector, Ian.
Loren grew up a cradle Episcopalian in a small town in central Virginia. Her relationships within her parish as a child kept her interested in church as she entered her teenage years and helped shape her later passion for youth ministry. She attended the University of Georgia, where she was active with the Episcopal campus ministry. Following graduation she served as a full time youth minister at an Episcopal Church in Northern Virginia while discerning a call to the priesthood. She attended the Virginia Theological Seminary and was ordained a priest in 2008. She then served at a church in Augusta, Georgia for five years, during which time she met Ian. They moved up to Northern Virginia a few years later, where Loren served at a church in Washington, DC while Ian attended Virginia Theological Seminary. From there they came to the Diocese of Missouri, where Loren began serving in her role as the Youth Missioner. Their two awesome sons, Elias and Ezra, can often be seen (and even more often heard) in the pews at St. Peter’s. Loren is thrilled to be a part of the Diocese of Missouri and is really looking forward to visiting St. Peter’s!
