BY JILLIAN SMITH, DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRY
The 2015 Youth Mission Trip to Bayou la Batre, Alabama, was a great success! We went through an organization called YouthWorks, which helps organize mission trips all across the nation. The first two days, St. Peter’s had the opportunity to put on a camp for impoverished young children in the community and to spend quality time with them. The final two days, our youth worked hard to scrape and repaint houses, some of which had been hit by Hurricane Katrina.
In the mornings, there was devotional time, or quiet time to think and talk with God. In the evenings, we had Club – a time to have meaningful discussions, talk about where we saw God, and sing songs. The youth did an incredible job working all week and God shined through each of them as they served.
After a long week, we took a quick trip to New Orleans before heading back to St. Louis!
Editor’s Note: Thanks to Jillian Smith, Kathy Bitting, and John Bradley for a great week! We hope they’ve caught up on much-needed sleep by now!
