Maundy Thursday Foot Clinic
On Maundy Thursday, St Peter’s participated in the first ever Maundy Thursday Foot Clinic led by Rev. Barbi Click at Trinity Food Pantry. Foot care is especially important for many of the under-housed and homeless as they walk everywhere and wear out shoes at a monthly rate. Thanks to St Peter’s congregation, 60 pairs of new shoes and countless socks were made available to provide replacements after the foot washing and wound care. Barbi concluded that this event was successful for several reasons:
1) It was interfaith. The partnership with Central Reform Congregation who provided much of the foot care products and nurses was instrumental to our ability to do this.
2) St. Peter's participation with your intentional acts of respect and kindness made it possible to carry the foot washing and care to the next level -- new socks and shoes. There was great joy in the receiving of both!
Working as the hands and feet of Christ is an important aspect for any parish. But to work in partnership with others to do these things magnifies the presence of God.
Trinity Food Ministry is always grateful for St. Peter's monthly participation in this ministry. We are especially thankful for this extra partnership at this most holy time of the year.
