St. Peter’s Vestry Nominees
Next Sunday, January 28th, we will elect five new vestry members for three-year terms. The Nominating Committee has recommended five candidates, and you can learn more about them below. The Annual Meeting begins at 9am on Sunday. Bob, a native of Denver has lived in St. Louis since 1990 and been a member of St. Peter’s since 2004. Bob has one adult daughter, Alex. Bob and his partner Susan Brown recently celebrated 9 years together. Susan has a daughter, at Clayton High School. Bob has served as an usher at St. Peter’s for 10 years and is on the Stewardship Committee. He serves on the Finance Committee of The Whitehouse Jesuit Retreat and is a board member of Episcopal Recovery Ministries and at the Starkloff Disability Institute. In his professional life, Bob is Head of Office and a Managing Director at Marsh USA, an insurance broker.
Drew Gulick and his wife, Alix, are newer members at St. Peter’s but have become immediately and enthusiastically involved! Drew was very instrumental in planning our most recent St. Peter’s Day! Drew, a native of St. Louis, met Alix during graduate school at Washington University. Shortly after graduation, they married and moved to London on a 2-year work assignment. During this time, they explored London, traveled, and grew their faiths together in the Anglican Church. Upon returning to St. Louis they attended service at St. Peter’s and felt an instant connection. Drew is a Director at Centene, focusing on product development and innovation. Drew and Alix have one daughter, Emma (1) who was baptized at St. Peter’s in 2017. Drew, Alix and Emma most often attend the 8am service.
Michael moved to St. Louis in 2013 with his (then) girlfriend Cady from Chicago, where they both had attended Loyola University Chicago. Michael immediately began a dual degree Masters program in Business Administration and Healthcare Administration at Saint Louis University. While in graduate school, Michael and Cady both found and fell in love with St. Peter’s, becoming involved with the Young Adults group, and getting married at the Church in October 2016. Recently, Michael joined the Stewardship Committee and has continued his involvement with the Young Adults and Youth events. Michael is an investment consultant at Summit Strategies Group in Clayton, where he primarily works with not-for-profit hospitals, foundations, and pension plans.
Mary is a lifelong Episcopalian, and a member of St. Peter’s for over a decade. Mary has been active in the Church, including launching the Sandwich Makers group, teaching Sunday school and as a prior member of the vestry. After a brief stint as a trusts and estates lawyer, Mary worked at Washington University, first as an Assistant Dean focusing on freshman programming and later teaching a freshman seminar on the Bill of Rights. Mary is a champion of education and is the Founder and Executive Director of Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls, a charter public school in St. Louis. She serves on the Boards of Trustees of Washington University, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, and december literary magazine. Mary and her husband, Tom, have three grown children; John, Isabelle and Anna.
Liza grew up attending St. Peter’s Church. She and her husband David were married at the church in 2008. In 2015, Liza and her family moved back to St. Louis and reconnected with St. Peter’s. Liza and David’s children, Louise (7), Robert (5), and Janie (3), regularly attend the Children’s Chapel, Sunday School, and the nursery. Liza is a graduate of Yale University and George Washington University Law School. In her professional life, Liza is the Executive Director of Missouri Appleseed.
