BY THE REVEREND IAN LASCH
I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the St. Peter’s parishioners who offered their time, talent, and treasure for the sake of Beyond Housing’s Beyond the Backpack school supply drive. This year we were able to assemble 74 backpacks full of supplies, in addition to a significant amount of loose supplies to fill more backpacks and be given to the schools to resupply children throughout the year. The work of Sandy Knight and Cheryl Meyer was particularly instrumental in organizing the collection of supplies, taking inventory, assembling backpacks, and delivering them to Normandy High School.
On Saturday, a small group of parishioners and I went to Normandy High School to help with the event where the backpacks were distributed. It was a real gift to see the faces of so many children who are able to start the school year off well-prepared. The mission of Beyond Housing is a special one, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped St. Peter’s to support it.
