Winter Clothing Drive

Winter Clothing Drive

The Youth Council is hosting a clothing drive for Kingdom House, October 15th – November 19th. Please bring used or new winter clothing: zipped jackets, hooded sweatshirts, heavy coats, hats, scarves, gloves, cozy socks, pajamas, long pants, shirts, and new underwear (a highly needed item!) for adults and children. A box will be in the Undercroft marked for the clothing drive. Note that we have moved the date of this drive to occur a few months earlier than last year. In doing this, we are hoping to provide these necessary items before the winter cold sets in.

Kingdom House provides social services to the economically disadvantaged. Their mission is “to help people achieve better lives. In fulfilling our mission, we teach people to fish, rather than just feeding them fish.” Indeed, they strive to help people achieve economic independence, self-sufficiency, and a path out of poverty. Kingdom House will supply your used clothing donations through their Bodega (thrift store) and your new donations at their annual Christmas Shop.

Please support Kingdom House in this vital ministry. For as Jesus said to his friends, “I was naked and you gave me clothing.” But when were you naked, Lord? The disciples inquire. “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25: 34-45) Let us clothe Christ this winter as we clothe our brothers and sisters through Kingdom House.
