Life’s Big Events

It is a privilege and an honor for St. Peter’s Episcopal Church to walk with people on the journey of life.

From the celebration of a baby’s birth to the celebration of a life well-lived, we seek to be a source of spiritual guidance, support, and celebration for you and your family.

BAPTISM

Holy Baptism is the initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body, the Church. In the Episcopal Church, Baptism is the entry rite into the Christian life. Baptism is the only requirement for joining in the Holy Eucharist and all other ministries of the Church. Each candidate for Holy Baptism is sponsored by one or more baptized persons. The sacrament takes place during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Worship Service on the following dates:  April 23, 2017; June 4, 2017.

To Be Baptized:

  • Complete the Baptism Registration Form and return it to the Church Office.
  • Attend a Baptism walk-through before the service.

WEDDINGS

In the Christian faith, marriage is the covenant between a man and a woman entered into before God in the Church. It is a lifelong commitment by two people to love, honor and cherish one another in faithfulness and true godliness.

To be married in St. Peter’s Church or Grace Chapel:

  • At least one person, bride or groom, must be a baptized Christian and either an active contributing member of St. Peter’s Church OR the child of an active contributing member.
  • Complete the Request for Marriage Form and return it to the Church Office. One of the clergy will contact you, at which time a date and time may be reserved.
  • Attend premarital counseling with a member of the clergy.  This is a prerequisite for marriage in the Episcopal Church. The Bishop’s written permission is required if a person has been previously married and divorced.

CONFIRMATION

At the Bishop of Missouri’s visitation each spring we celebrate Confirmation, the sacramental rite in which an individual expresses a mature commitment to Christ. Our Confirmation Class is open to teens in 8th grade or high school. The class meets every other week from September to May, engaging youth in topics of faith and inviting them to explore where their beliefs intersect the beliefs of our Episcopal tradition. Worship, service projects, field trips, and fellowship are all part of the Confirmation experience. To register your child for next fall’s class, please contact our Youth Director Jillian Smith. Confirmation instruction for adults is also available; please contact a member of the clergy for information.

BURIALS

As Christians, we live in the hope and reality that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ, nothing in life, nothing in death. Still, one of the hardest things we face in this life is the death of a loved one. St. Peter’s clergy, staff, and members offer their caring support and expertise during this difficult time, guiding service planning, offering simple receptions to help celebrate your loved one’s life, and walking with you through the experience of grief and loss.

Please contact the Church Office at 314-993-2306 to speak with one of our clergy. For pastoral emergencies outside office hours, please call 314-993-2306 and press “2”. One of the clergy will contact you immediately.
