Through worship, we celebrate God’s presence in our lives. We invite you to join us as we continue to grow together in faith, developing friendships and building our future. Please consider volunteering your time in one of the following worship ministries:
Our Acolyte Ministry gives high school youth the opportunity to serve as worship leaders in the 10:30 a.m. service and on Christmas Eve. Each Sunday a team of six acolytes leads the choir, lectors, and clergy in procession and assists the clergy at the altar. Acolytes serve from September through June, with each team serving approximately eight to ten times a year. Acolyte Masters are adults who train and shepherd the acolyte teams.
Greeters help make our worship atmosphere welcoming by meeting parishioners and newcomers at the doors and answering questions about St. Peter’s.
Coffee Hour following the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service is an informal gathering where friends are made and information about parish events is shared. Members of this committee provide and serve the refreshments.
Volunteers prepare and serve breakfast to fellow parishioners. Join us on Sunday mornings from 8:45-10:00 a.m., August through May, for a delicious breakfast in the Undercroft.
Lectors read scripture lessons and lead the congregation in reciting the Nicene Creed and offering of the prayers. Many Lectors also serve as Eucharistic Ministers who administer the chalices of wine during Holy Communion.
Ushers offer a warm greeting to our worshipers, answer questions, assist people to their seats, take up the collection and are available during worship to address emergent needs.
Sunday Sandwich Makers
If you happen by the St. Peter’s kitchen on the third Sunday of the month, you will find a young and joyful group of “chefs” at work. Children (and a few adults) assemble bologna and cheese sandwiches and provide cookies for the men of the Sunshine Ministries to serve to the homeless in downtown St. Louis.
The Parish Choir provides diverse and magnificent music for worship at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday services, Concerts and Evensong, as well as other special events. The Choristers, children in 3rd through 8th grade, sing with the choir on Sundays and other events during the year. The Handbell Choir plays on occasional Sunday mornings, in Advent, and at other special services.
Parishioners can offer the flowers decorating the altar in celebration of a joyful occasion, in memory of a loved one, or commemorating other important events.
The Altar Guild prepares the church and chapel for worship, and cares for the linens and vessels used at our altar. Each new member of Altar Guild receives training and is initially paired with an experienced member.
This team brings flowers and smiles from the church each Sunday to parishioners celebrating new births, recovering from illness, mourning a loss, or who are homebound.
